Rosato Terre de La Custodia
Terre de La Custodia Rosato is a modern and vibrant expression of Umbrian winemaking tradition. Produced by the Farchioni family in Gualdo Cattaneo (near Montefalco), this wine stands out for its perfect balance of freshness and structure. Crafted from a blend of Pinot Nero, Merlot, and Sangiovese grapes, it is grown at an altitude of approximately 300 meters above sea level. The vines, roughly 15 years old, are trained using the spurred cordon system and rooted in soil that is predominantly medium-textured with a tendency toward limestone
The Tradition of Terre de La Custodia
The name "Terre de La Custodia" is no coincidence. It refers to the lands surrounding the Franciscan convent of Santa Maria dell’Annunziata, which were historically entrusted to monks as "custodians" of the land's quality. The Farchioni family has inherited this mission, blending deep respect for tradition with a highly modern entrepreneurial vision
Key Characteristics and Tasting Notes
The grapes for Terre de La Custodia Rosato are hand-harvested during the coolest hours of the day, typically in late August. They are immediately transported to the cellar and chilled to prevent oxidation, which could otherwise compromise their aromatic potential. The winemaking process includes: Brief Skin Maceration: Necessary to extract the vibrant color and aromas found in the skins. Soft Pressing: Carried out in an oxygen-free environment to preserve the integrity of the enzymes. Static Decantation: The must is cleared for 24 hours before selected yeasts are introduced. Fermentation: Conducted in stainless steel at low temperatures for 12 days. The Result: A brilliant and inviting cherry-pink (cerasuolo) color. On the nose, it offers striking notes of wild strawberry and raspberry, with delicate floral hints of rose and violet. On the palate, it is fresh, savory, and boasts a crisp acidity that makes it incredibly easy to drink, finishing with a persistent trail of fresh fruit
